Projects Community Service ROMAC

Members will recall the delightful young Juliana Cabral, who came from a strife-torn part of East Timor to Perth last year for life-saving surgery under ROMAC, the Rotary Overseas Medial Aid for Children program.

When she arrived in Perth, Juliana (or “Ansa” as she is known to family and friends) was given six weeks to live because of a hole in the heart.

Juliana_1On the left is a photograph of Ansa that was taken outside Princess Margaret Hospital with big sister Francelina (“Anche”), who accompanied her on the trip.
And below is a recent photo sent by Anche, showing just how that fragile little girl has blossomed since her operation.
ROMAC brings children who are suffering from life-threatening or disfiguring conditions that cannot be treated in their home country to Australia for expert treatment.

Congratulations to Booragoon member Connie Martin, who is our District representative for the ROMAC program, and the other Booragoon members who did so much to help Ansa and Francelina during their time in Perth.
